Who still buys Windows 8?
Mostly three situations: reactivating a computer built between 2012 and 2015 whose original key is lost, setting up a virtual machine to run old software, or keeping industrial or lab equipment that was certified for this version only. For daily internet use, a supported system is the safer choice.
Which Windows 8 edition do I need?
Core, sometimes sold as Windows 8 Home, is the standard edition. Pro adds BitLocker, Remote Desktop hosting and domain join. Enterprise targets company fleets with extra management features. The N variants come without the built-in media player. In every case, the key must match the edition you install.
Is Windows 8 still supported by Microsoft?
